Now my children are starting to be - almost - grown up, it is a huge blast-from-the-past experience to have a very recently born wee baby in for photographs. I can barely pick up my eldest now.
As a new parent, or a new parent again if it's not your first, you shouldn't need to be told to take lots of photographs when they are tiny - time passes so very fast. You don't need to get professional photographs done, but (yes, I know, of course I'm going to say this...) it is worth it! Aren't you busy enough with a new baby on (and in) your hands.
And no you don't even need to leave your house. I can come to yours - you don't need all the hassle of trying to get organised and out of your house.
For newborn photography sessions, the best time is when they are between 2 and 4 weeks old. I usually allow 2 or 3 hours for a session, but one thing is for sure, and that's that baby will not be on their usual timetable on the day of the shoot. So the session just takes it's own shape around what baby wants to do - when it's feeding time it's feeding time, and when it's nappy change time... you get the idea! The photography session takes as long as it needs to.
